My Dad died three years ago, so I thought I’d make a banger to celebrate his life. He would have hated this tune, but it doesn’t matter, cos he’s dead! He did, however, teach me how to make a whole range of explosives, something that I believe every parent has a duty to do for their children, so I think in a way, he’d appreciate the violence of the drop.
I started this tune with the Alan Partridge / Jaco Pastorius style fretless bassline and handclaps, but once I put down the lovely chords, I got stuck. Try as I might, this world was beyond my reach. Luckily Whiney was on hand to save the day. He built on my music elements and put the mother (or father) of all drops in. He sent back his stems, I put some vocal stabs in, and we had ourselves a very possible world.
A world that my Dad wouldn’t have been seen dead in.
Except, come to think of it, that’s the only way he could be seen in it now. So maybe he is there, skanking and waving his Zimmer in the air.
You’ve probably gathered by now that you can’t build a whole series of better worlds single-handedly. When you need help, ask for it!
